UOM Sports Council Share Their Views on SLUG Victory

The 11th SLUG was a historic one for the University of Moratuwa, with the winning of the first ever overall SLUG championship. The UOM sports council played an indispensable role in the path to this victory. It is for this very reason that MoraSpirit decided to talk to three key players behind this monumental task, to share their thoughts about this great achievement.

Newly Found Sporting Giants From SLUG 2013

SLUG 2013 was ended after leaving some magnificent sporting memories in our mind. Sportsmen & Sportswomen from each university fought hard with a great passion towards their sport. Some rising stars could be seen in the SLUG making significant impact in the games while teams considered as minnows in the past defeating the giants. Among those teams Sabara cricket, VPA volleyball and Jaffna hockey did huge impact by blasting away the predictions.

Analysis of the SLUG 2013

The Sri Lanka University Games (SLUG) is hosted once in every three years. The tradition started in 1980, when the first SLUG was hosted by the University of Peradeniya, and since then up to date, the SLUG had been held ten times. The University of Moratuwa got the privilege to host the SLUG for the second time this year, after 18 years since it was first hosted in 1985.

Looking Back - SLUG 2013

The Sri Lanka University Games 2013, also known as SLUG 2013 came to a close last week with the hosts, University of Moratuwa winning the overall championship. This festival of sports is a very important event in the university community and stands apart from all other inter-university sports competitions. 14 universities competed in 35 events under 22 sporting categories in this year's games.

The closing ceremony of the 11th Sri Lanka University Games, more commonly known as the SLUG, was held today at the University of Moratuwa (UoM) grounds, marking the end of another legendary inter university sporting event.
