Only then the Mora Table Tennis players realized that months and months of grit and grueling had paid off and they had beaten all the odds and defied all the expectations to seize the championship in both Men’s and Women’s categories at Inter University Games 2018.

It was the dawn of 8th of September 2018. The day was filled with excitement and uncertainty. New gymnasium of University of Moratuwa was ready to scroll another remarkable page of Inter University Championship 2018. 14 universities were ready to entertain the spectators with their swift moves and rhythmic strokes.

It was around 6.30pm in the evening and the excitement of the jam packed stands of the gymnasium was palpable as the crowd waited for the beginning of the most anticipated finals of the MORA Smashes Tournament, Intermediate and Novices men’s and women’s Finals.

TWO new champions, ONE epic comeback, highlights final day

Absolute thrill, coaches were expecting it. Spectators were expecting it. Sporting gods were expecting. And the players duly delivered it. After two days of magnificent ball playing, Inter University Tennis Championship concluded crowning Colombo and Moratuwa as the new Kings and Queens.

New gymnasium of Ruhuna University was electrified with motivated voices as Inter University Table Tennis Competition commenced yesterday (16th September). After a short opening ceremony, preliminary rounds began.

IUGs 2017| Table Tennis: All Set for Smash and Spin!

Even a blink of an eye would miss the shots and flips when the paddlers play at a rapid game. Over 13 universities are going to gather around the gymnasium of University of Ruhuna on 9th and 10th of September,2017 to take part in the Inter University Championship. University of Sri Jayawardanepura table tennis team notched up the overall victory at the SLUG 2016 and brought an immense pride to the USJP.

Table Tennis Spins the Wayo Ground

Two or four players hitting a light weight ball back and forth across a table using a small racket is the picture that comes to my mind when talking about table tennis. The game takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Fast and quick responding player wins the match series. This is also called as ping pong as the small ball spinning back and forward, has to be balanced between the ping and the pong here. It is a fascinating game to the audience also. So there’s no any doubt for being table tennis, a wonderful game that is highly famous among university students.
