Mora Men Won 10th Consecutive Title; Colombo Women Completed Whitewash

It was a great day at Colombo Rowing Club when University of Moratuwa and University of Colombo locked horns for the titles of Inter University Regattta 2017. UOM Oarsmen dominated the men’s races while UOC’s women completed the whitewash. Lads from UOM won 10th consecutive title reiterating their supremacy. Many races drew the spectators to the winning line as they turned out to be nerve-tingling. Audience were able witness a splendid regatta at Beira Lake and many Old Mora, Old UOC oarsmen and women came to support their teams. They didn’t forget to spell the names “Mora” and “Colombo” whenever they defeated their rivals.

Final rackets were selected !

After resting for about a one whole night, badminton rackets and the shuttlecocks were gathered early in the morning. The sun shine also peaked to the gymnasium of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka looking for the talents of the players and the gymnasium was warmed with the breaths of the players.

IUG Rugby : Host Pera and Mora retain title hopes

Inter University Rugby semi-finals worked out at the Nittawela Rugby Ground on 5th of August. SJP lost their chance to glory when they were beaten by Mora in style. Host Pera won the match
against Colombo advancing to the finals. It was a drizzling weather condition in Nittawela for the semi-final match between University of Peradeniya and University of Colombo.

The flash of the shuttlecocks !

The gymnasium of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka was looked much busy from the early morning of 5th August 2017. One of the most awaited days of Inter University Games was started with the participation of 14 universities. Badminton rackets were waited to kick the shuttlecocks and the shuttlecocks were jumped up to fly over the nets.

House Colombo regains the Tennis Throne

After a lengthy delay of weeks due to weather, reservation problems and many issues, Gymkhana Queens Tennis Club finally came alive on 23rd July to host the semifinals and finals of Inter University Men’s Tennis. The remaining quartet of Colombo, USJP, Peradeniya and Moratuwa were prepared and ready to battle. The spectators, who flocked around the courts, were given a treat for their eyes throughout the event. At the end of fiercely competed day, University of Colombo was the last team standing.

Sparkles of the morning dawn raise the curtain for another glamorous event of Inter University Games 2017 in the University of Eastern Premises.

83 participants representing their universities were getting ready to grab another trophy; give another victory for their universities. On one side, the event organizers were arranging the event in a flawless manner. Moreover, on the other side, the spectators representing their universities were gathering around to cheer up their participants.
