J’Pura Bags the Inter University Swimming Titleiversity Swimming Meet

Inter-university swimming championships were held on 21st of July 2012 at University of Sri Jayawardenpura. University of Sri Jayawardenapura won the championship continuing their winning streak for the 4th consecutive year. J’pura swimmers claimed a comfortable victory scoring an outstanding total of 134 points. University of Colombo emerged as runners up with a total of 64 points.

The road race event for the inter-university games 2012 kicked off with an early start on Saturday, 14th July from Torrington place, Colombo. The event saw the participation of athletes from eleven universities running two laps along areas surrounding the University of Colombo, in a bid to clinch the fiercely competitive championship.

Due to its famous nature, the sport has attracted abundant spectators throughout the tournament providing a couple of exciting twists to the staring eyes.

Moneyball All Over Again: Mora Clinches their First Ever Inter Uni Baseball Title!

 

University of Moratuwa stormed through to their first ever Inter University Baseball title as they won a 9 inning nail biting final, 17-16, against University of Colombo on Sunday (3rd June).

The 2012 Inter University Baseball tournament’s first day (June 2nd) saw the Universities of Colombo, Moratuwa, Peradeniya and Sri Jayawardenepura march through to the semifinals due to be held on June 3rd.

University of Moratuwa thrashed Sabaragamuwa University comprehensively with a score line of 24-5 in 3 innings. Meanwhile University of Colombo strode through with another comprehensive win over University of Kelaniya in 5 innings, the score read as 16-4.

Mora tennis retains the trophy for the fifth consecutive year

 

It’s the biggest trophy awarded in the university games, and no doubt all six teams wanted to bring it back home. But at the end it’s the mighty Mora team who owned and retained it winning for the record fifth consecutive year. Mora beat Pera(3/1) and Sabara (3/0) convincingly to match through to the semi-finals topping group A followed by Pera whereas Colombo beat J’pura and Kelaniya to enter semi-finals with j’pura in group B. Mora beat J’pura(3/1) while Colombo beat Pera (3/1) to enter the much awaited final.
