‘Dream, believe, achieve’

Sparkles of the morning dawn raise the curtain for another glamorous event of Inter University Games 2017 in the University of Eastern Premises.

83 participants representing their universities were getting ready to grab another trophy; give another victory for their universities. On one side, the event organizers were arranging the event in a flawless manner. Moreover, on the other side, the spectators representing their universities were gathering around to cheer up their participants.

The American volleyball player, Ryan Miller said, “We went into that season knowing we had great individual players, but by the end of the season we knew we had a great team. Six guys working as hard as they could every time we stepped on the floor. That is the mentality you need to be champions.”

Volleyball bumps from prelimineries to semifinals

The national sport of Sri Lanka was the show of interest at the Rajarata University Gymnasium, which held the pride of hosting the island’s national sport for this year’s Inter University Games. 28 men’s and women’s teams which contested well for two days starting from 27th July narrowed down to 16 teams beating their opponents at the preliminary rounds.

IUGs 2017| Table Tennis: All Set for Smash and Spin!

Even a blink of an eye would miss the shots and flips when the paddlers play at a rapid game. Over 13 universities are going to gather around the gymnasium of University of Ruhuna on 9th and 10th of September,2017 to take part in the Inter University Championship. University of Sri Jayawardanepura table tennis team notched up the overall victory at the SLUG 2016 and brought an immense pride to the USJP.

The most powerful adversary: Ruhuna, makes it home

Sometimes the adversary is not only your opposite team. Sometimes sports make us compete with things beyond our control. That is where the spirit of the games lies. The boys’ elle matches were off to a shaky start with rain pouring over Colombo. However, the University of Colombo hosted the matches where 12 teams competed against each other for gold.

 

InterUni Elle: Kelani Girls Score the Homerun

The gloomy skies of Colombo brightened up with the women’s power at the InterUni elle matches which commenced yesterday. The games were held in the grounds of University of Colombo, with the universities put into 4 groups, competing to be champions of the group scoring the most homeruns.

The Slow and Steady Wins the Game

Inter University Karate Championship came to an end at the Gymnasium of University of Sri Jayewardenapura on Sunday, 18th July, 2017. The medalists of 7 categories were decorated with medals. Day one was the Kata day and day two was for the Kumite. Kihon, Kata and kumite are the KS of Karate. Kihon means basics, Kata means form and Kumite means partner work. Karate is a highly complex art that takes many years to master and is a noble art of self-defense yet another beautiful sport.
