Inter University swimming champs over verdant aquatic !

If you have a lane you will have a chance to be a swimming champ. Since we are fenced by one of the gorgeous ocean our country is well known as the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean”. Accordingly water is not a hurdle for our young fellows. So when they were in the water their only enemy is clock. It can be undoubtedly seen in the swimming competitions of inter university games held at University of Jayawardanapura premises today (15th of July 2017). First day swimming playoffs were held there throughout the day with full of excitement and bliss with the participation of talented university mermaids and mermen with their weapon of strongest body and element of water.

Four teams set up for one trophy !

Gamunu Rathnayake Memorial Volleyball Tournament organized by the University of Moratuwa is held in this year for the 10th time at university gymnasium. This year University of Colombo, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, and University of Sri Jayawardhanapura have been invited to play along with University of Moratuwa. The four teams hit the ground running on the first day of the tournament to get to the finals.

Battle of aces begun; Favourites live up to the hype !

Kelaniya, J’pura and Colombo, the pre-tournament favourites, were able to remain unbeaten on the second day of the inter university women’s tennis championship held at the Gymkhana Queens Club tennis courts, despite weather god heavily interfering for most of the morning session.

The most powerful adversary: Ruhuna, makes it home

Sometimes the adversary is not only your opposite team. Sometimes sports make us compete with things beyond our control. That is where the spirit of the games lies. The boys’ elle matches were off to a shaky start with rain pouring over Colombo. However, the University of Colombo hosted the matches where 12 teams competed against each other for gold.

 

InterUni Elle: Kelani Girls Score the Homerun

The gloomy skies of Colombo brightened up with the women’s power at the InterUni elle matches which commenced yesterday. The games were held in the grounds of University of Colombo, with the universities put into 4 groups, competing to be champions of the group scoring the most homeruns.

The Slow and Steady Wins the Game

Inter University Karate Championship came to an end at the Gymnasium of University of Sri Jayewardenapura on Sunday, 18th July, 2017. The medalists of 7 categories were decorated with medals. Day one was the Kata day and day two was for the Kumite. Kihon, Kata and kumite are the KS of Karate. Kihon means basics, Kata means form and Kumite means partner work. Karate is a highly complex art that takes many years to master and is a noble art of self-defense yet another beautiful sport.

Pera Lifts It to Supremacy Amid 8 New Records

It was a hectic day at University of Jaffna when all the weightlifters representing their Universities came to Jaffna on 11th of June, 2017 to meet their rivals in Weightlifting Championship of Inter University Games-2017. Eight newly established game records are not adequate to illustrate the excitement of the contending lifters. University of Peradeniya surpassed all other Universities to top the points table and lifter MGCSB Gunarathna was adjudged the best among the bests.
