University of Moratuwa rugby team crowned Rugby championship of SLUG 2016 beating University of Peradeniya by 24 points (3T,3C,1P) to 19 points (3T, 2C) at Rathmalana Air force ground on Tuesday evening(31st of August 2016). Here is that proudest moment when they seized the golden opportunity for the fourth time in their lives ensuring their unbeaten quality to the viewers, to themselves and delivered an unforgettable tournament for the audience.

Another astonishing morning in the University of Wayaba ground has dawned and gone. But the memories which they left on the ground are priceless. Who would think that this will become an unforgettable day for J’pura where they put another step towards achieving the SLUG championship 2016. This may be heart breaking for other universities but surprisingly they achieved an amazing win today indicating their overall talents on the ground.

Another remarkable page of 12th Sri Lanka University Games was turned at University of Wayamba grounds with the announcement of women netball championship today 3rd September 2016. Young energetic women players of University of Sri Jayawardhanapura wore the crown of championship and joined to the golden history of SLUG in Netball.

adminton matches of the SLUG 2016 were commenced on yesterday (2nd September of 2016) at Indoor stadium, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, Kuliyapitiya. At the end of the day 1, women’s teams of Peradeniya, Visual & PerformingArts, Colombo, Wayamba, J’pura, Uva, Kelaniya, Sabaragamuwa qualified to quarter finals and Men’s team of Peradeniya, Jaffna, Colombo, J’pura, Sabaragamuwa, Rajarata, Moratuwa, South Eastern advanced into quarters.

SLUG 2016 | Who will shoot the final goal?

The waiting was over. Green grass of Wayamba University grounds was ready to embrace the bouncing and punching moves of the energetic women players. Fourteen Sri Lankan Universities gathered at Wayamba university grounds with the hope and faith to battle for the Netball Championship, at Sri Lanka University Games 2016. Eighteen Netball matches were held yesterday (02/09/2016) to finalize the qualified universities for the Quarter final matches, which is scheduled to be held on today (03/09/2016).

Today, on the second day of SLUG 2016, sports fans who gathered at Kuliyapitiya University Premises were felicitous to witness a breaking of record in Weightlifting.

SLUG-2016| No 1 Spot for Cricket, Still Remains for Grabs

As the SLUG’s cricket finals yet to be happened, it was fitting to see two teams actively pursuing victories. University of J’pura and University of Kelaniya playing tough yet ultimately fair cricket and allowing their skills to show their fellow mates why they should each be talked about as the winners in 2016 SLUG. Both squads have their stand-out performers, whilst others will be looking precariously over their shoulders after some individually underwhelming performances. The cricket series will come thick and bold in another six days’ (6th September) time at the finals and priorities should now lie there.
